13 Months a Vanlifer

Hey! So, I haven’t written a post in a little while, and I have drafts of a bunch that will come out soon…for right now though, I just have a couple of brief housekeeping-type things.

If you visit me here often, you may have noticed that I changed the domain name, and this site is no longer called “Tattoos and Travels.” I switched it to “Sev Tattoos” just to streamline my online presence (everything I do is now under that name…Sev Tattoos on Pinterest, @sevtattoos on Instagram, sevtattoos@gmail.com, etc). The type of content is the same, still half tattoos and tattoo art, and half vanlife and travel :)

It’s now the end of September, which means I’ve been doing this whole solo female vanlifer thing for a little over 13 months! I definitely intended to write a happy-vanniversary-to-me type of blog post in mid-August, but I overbooked myself last month and didn’t make the time for it (I suck like that). But still, having done this for over a year now means something to me—jumping into it and learning as I went, surviving my first winter without heat, being able to go camping more often and take more roadtrips than ever before…it’s been a challenging, but pretty incredible first year of #vanlife!

This year was also a huge one in my professional life. Last summer (the first two weeks of August 2018), I took a short break from my tattoo apprenticeship to go to my parents’ house in Rhode Island and build out my van. After returning to Philly in my new micro-home-on-wheels, I finished my apprenticeship a few months later, became a professional tattoo artist, and started working on building my portfolio and clientele.

It took me a long time to figure out the specifics of what I want in life, and then to gain traction on making it happen. Vanlife is for me, tattooing is for me, and I hope I’m able to make more of my goals/dreams fall into place in the near future! By the way, I just realized this this blog is also a year old as of this month! I haven’t posted as often as I’d hoped, but I’m definitely looking forward to the next year of documenting (and therefore internalizing and learning from) this whole vanlifer-tattoo-artist lifestyle!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all having a great week!

Love,

Sev
