Seven Nomads Streetwear

Damn dude, it’s been over three months since I last posted. Inexcusable. Kind of a lot’s happened in that time, so I’ll have to write some catch-up posts sometime soon (got an epic tattoo from Big Meas at his shop in Columbus, became a full staff member at the tattoo shop I was apprenticed at, etc).

For now though, I just want to talk about this neat new thing my brother Matt and I are doing…we’ve started our own clothing brand. We’re calling it Seven Nomads Streetwear, and it’s casual clothing for people who love tattoo-inspired fashion. At the moment it’s just t-shirts and tanks, but we’ll also have hoodies, maybe bomber jackets, beanies, snap-backs, and whatever else we feel like adding. We’re officially launching Seven Nomads in 2020, which is exciting as fuck.

So, what’s the name about? It’s a nod to our last name (Seveney), and to the lifestyles we’ve both cultivated for ourselves. We’re travel junkies. Matt and I really loved going on family roadtrips back in the day, and nothing’s changed. We have a strong sense of adventure, and hate being tied down to one place for too long. For me, it really started the first time I went abroad, a two-week trip to Italy back in undergrad. After I finished my degree, I made travelling a full-time thing, living and working abroad in places like South Korea, Hong Kong, Nepal, the Dominican Republic, etc. I’ve talked about this before in other posts.

While I was living in Hong Kong, I managed to get my brother a job teaching for the same company. He came out to HK, we shared a cool apartment in the Yau Ma Tei district, partied our faces off, and it was a new beginning for him. After that, he became as travel-obsessed as me. Matt now works jobs that allow him to travel pretty often, and has probably been to as many countries as I have, if not more.

So, what Seven Nomads is about is freedom…freedom of expression, freedom of movement, freedom of spirit. We want this brand to reflect our values and our aesthetic, and for it to be a way to keep travelling, meeting and connecting with people, and having amazing life experiences. Matt is handling more of the business part of it, and I’m the one-person art department. The shirt designs are custom, and tattoo-art inspired. A few of them are shown below, modeled by a couple of my friends.

When we’re ready to launch the brand, we’ll have a store here as part of my blog site. “Sev Tattoos” will be my vanlife journal, my tattoo and artwork portfolio, and the Seven Nomads online store. I feel like all three of these things relate to and complement one another. Vanlife, the tattooing lifestyle, and the streetwear brand are all after the same sense of freedom, the same search for beauty and adventure, and they all have potential to feed the creative spirit. I’m corny, I know, but this is genuinely how I feel. I’m getting my shit together, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do, and this is what my best life looks like. I just want to share it with you, and be inspired by your best life in return.

As always, thank you so much for hanging out here with me for a few minutes! Here’s some of my favorites from the first two Seven Nomads photo shoots. For more photos, and more frequent updates, we’re @seven_nomads on Instagram!
