Vanlife Begins

My name is Sarah, and this is my first post on this new website of mine...and the first bit of personal writing I've done in years.  I had a Wordpress blog for a while when I first started my tattooing journey (a story for another post), but I got lazy about it and let it die.  I'm determined not to let that happen again.  Tattoos and Travels is here to stay, and I want to make it into a discussion, a gathering place, a community even, for vanlifers, artists, travelers, and free spirits of all kinds.  

At this moment, my current status: 34 years old, one solid month into full-time vanlife, salon receptionist by day, tattoo apprentice by night, ex-teacher, forever traveler, vegan as fuck, single as fuck, chubby as fuck, hiking enthusiast, movie enthusiast, mostly happy.  

This page will be a vanlife diary and a tattoo portfolio in one.  Those are my two true loves. Vanlife is something I’ve been considering for about a year, and I’ve finally taken the leap. It’s been awesome so far, encouraging me to spend more time in the great outdoors, and giving me a fresh perspective on my adopted city, Philadelphia. Tattooing is my passion. I used to love getting tattooed (still do), and now I'm obsessed with designing tattoo art and putting it on skin. My apprenticeship is almost over, and I’m pretty fucking psyched to start making a living doing what I love.

In this blog/site/thing I'll probably also tell you about the food I eat (vegan af), where I hike, and why flannel shirts are the best thing to wear, ever. The social media experts say to niche down, but I'm niche-ing up, bro.  There's too much in my life that I'm obsessed with to try to pare it down to a manageable, single-serving message, so I'm just going to let it all hang out and see what happens.  Welcome to my page, come sit by the campfire, I hope you're into the vibe, and I hope you’ll hang out for a while.
